Elsa y Elmar was announced as the latest artist to create exclusive music for W Records, the hotel brand's private record label. All proceeds from streaming and vinyl sales of "Adiós Amor" go to La Casita de San Ángel, a Mexico City-based group.
Elsa y Elmar is included in Concord Music Publishing's roster, highlighting her as a relevant artist known for genre-less music.
Elsa Y Elmar, whose birth name is Elsa Margarita Carvajal, was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia. From an early age, she engaged with music, taking musical appreciation and flute classes at nine and later enrolling in a jazz academy at 16. Her formal musical education continued at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, which she attended in 2011. While studying at Berklee, she developed the concept for Elsa y Elmar in 2012, viewing her musical project as a collaborative effort with her supporters, her ‘sea’—hence ‘Elmar’ (a play on the Spanish ‘el mar’). In 2013, she released her debut six-track EP, “Sentirnos Bien,” produced by Mateo Lewis, also a Berklee alumnus. A significant early achievement came when her song “Me Viene Bien” from the EP won the Grand Prize in the Latin category of the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
