About

Flatbush Zombies, comprised of Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott, formed in 2010 in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City. The trio, who were childhood friends, initially bonded over common interests such as Japanese anime, specifically Dragon Ball Z, and professional wrestling. Their musical collaboration began around 2010, initiated by Erick Arc Elliott. The group quickly gained recognition following the release of their “Thug Waffle” video on YouTube and their debut mixtape, D.R.U.G.S., an acronym for “Death and Reincarnation Under God’s Supervision.” This early work showcased their unique lyrical style, which incorporates arcane occult references, esoteric name-dropping, and provocative street slang.

Their career progressed with the release of their second mixtape, BetterOffDEAD, on September 11, 2013, which received critical acclaim and was recognized by XXL as one of the best mixtapes of 2013. This period also saw them collaborating with artists like Danny Brown and Action Bronson. In 2014, the group embarked on a collaborative project with fellow Brooklyn rap group The Underachievers, forming Clockwork Indigo, and released an EP under this moniker. Their debut studio album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, released on March 11, 2016, debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold 28,000 copies in its first week. The album garnered generally positive reviews, with a Metacritic score of 80 based on 7 reviews.

Flatbush Zombies continued to evolve their sound and presence with their second studio album, Vacation in Hell, released on April 6, 2018. This album led to a worldwide tour, “See You In Hell Tour,” which commenced at the 2018 Coachella Music Festival. They have performed at numerous music festivals globally, including The Hudson Project, JMBLYA, Afropunk Festival, SXSW, Roskilde, Rolling Loud, and Wireless. In 2020, they released the EP “Now, More Than Ever” following the George Floyd protests, which charted at number 168 on the Billboard 200. Their work extends to collaborations with a diverse range of artists such as RZA, ASAP Mob, Tech N9ne, and Skepta, cementing their status within the East Coast hip hop scene and as part of the Beast Coast supergroup.
