Glen Matlock

Glen Matlock is a founding member and bassist of the iconic punk rock band Sex Pistols, a songwriter, and a consistent performer across various bands and solo projects since 1973. After co-founding the iconic punk rock band Sex Pistols and contributing to the songwriting for 10 of the 12 tracks on their seminal debut album, ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols,’ Glen Matlock established himself as a pivotal force in the punk rock movement. Prior to his breakthrough, Matlock attended Saint Martin’s School of Art until 1974. As the original bass guitarist for the Sex Pistols, he was instrumental in crafting enduring hits such as the influential ‘Anarchy in the U.K.,’ released in 1977.

More recently, Matlock reformed Rich Kids for a benefit concert in 2010 and joined a reformed Faces, performing at the Vintage at Goodwood festival later that year. In 2011, he filled in for Mani, playing bass for Primal Scream at the Japan Tsunami appeal concert. He made his acting debut in the 2012 British drama film ‘The Paddy Lincoln Gang.’ From 2013 to 2014, he toured extensively with Sylvain Sylvain on the Sex Dolls Tour. Matlock also co-founded The International Swingers in 2011, releasing a self-titled album with them in 2015.

In 2022 and 2023, Matlock demonstrated his continued relevance and versatility by joining Blondie for their extensive UK and US tours, filling in for their injured bassist. He released his highly anticipated latest solo album, ‘Consequences Coming,’ in April 2023, which garnered attention for its incisive observations on contemporary political events. His prolific and enduring career, spanning from 1973 to the present, underscores his status as a versatile artist, consistently performing, songwriting, and creating across multiple acclaimed projects and collaborations.
