Anuv Jain was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, on March 11, 1995. He began writing songs at the age of 16 as a method of emotional expression, particularly after losing his father at 17. At 21, he started uploading his original work to YouTube. His debut recorded song, “Baarishein,” released in 2018, became a sleeper hit and marked his breakthrough. He stated in an interview that he wrote this song at 17, inspired by a person he was in love with. Post-2018, “Baarishein” achieved over 200 million streams on Spotify, establishing him as a notable independent artist. Anuv Jain’s musical approach typically involves simple chorded songs, often featuring an acoustic guitar or ukulele, without additional percussion or instruments. His lyrics frequently explore themes of love and heartbreak.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Anuv Jain decided to pursue music as a full-time career. This period saw the release of popular songs such as “Alag Aasmaan” and “Gul.” His reputation grew, leading to numerous live performances across India and international venues, including the UK, Australia, Dubai, and Nepal. In 2022, he was a lead singer at Post Malone’s India concert. His 2023 release, “Husn,” became a commercial success, accumulating over 50 million streams on Spotify within its first month and exceeding 300 million streams across platforms within three months. “Husn” was recognized as the second-most streamed song in India on Spotify’s 2024 year-end charts and ranked as the most streamed indie song of 2024.
In 2023, Anuv Jain was featured in Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list. His 2024 release, “Jo Tum Mere Ho,” also topped music charts in India and surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify within two months. In April 2024, Anuv Jain participated in the United Nations’ ‘Sounds Right’ initiative, contributing a remixed version of “Baarishein” that incorporated the sounds of Indian rain to support nature conservation. He collaborated with Indo-Canadian rapper and singer AP Dhillon for the song “Afsos,” released in 2025. Anuv Jain married his long-time partner Hridi Narang on February 14, 2025.
