His upbringing included time in Colorado, San Diego, and New York City before he established his career in Seattle, Washington. In Seattle, Grieves found a thriving environment for his hip-hop and punk influences. He began his recording career in 2007 with the independent release of his debut album, “Irreversible.” This initial effort laid the groundwork for his development as an artist.
In 2008, Grieves began a collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and producer Budo, a partnership that would significantly shape his early career. Together, they released the album “88 Keys & Counting” in 2010. This was followed by “Together/Apart” in 2011, which marked a turning point in Grieves’ career by debuting at No. 112 on the Top 200 Album Sales chart, his first appearance on a major chart. The duo continued to gain visibility by performing at notable events such as South by Southwest in 2011 and Warped Tour in the same year. His work has been recognized in music publications including Real Detroit Weekly, Seattle Weekly, and The Washington Post.
His career progressed with further album releases, displaying consistent artistic output. His fourth album, “Winter & the Wolves,” released on March 25, 2014, achieved commercial success, peaking at No. 57 on the Billboard 200 chart. He has continued to release studio albums, including “Running Wild” in 2017 and “Canopy” in 2021, and has collaborated with various artists on singles and guest appearances. Grieves is signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment, a label known for its roster of independent hip-hop artists, which has further solidified his presence in the hip-hop community.
