Ho99o9 (pronounced Horror) was formed in 2012 in Newark, New Jersey, by theOGM and Yeti Bones (also known as Eaddy). The duo initially gained recognition for their distinct sound, which blends punk rap, industrial hip hop, and hardcore punk. Their early influences stemmed from a mix of hip-hop artists like DMX and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, alongside exposure to underground punk shows in Brooklyn featuring bands such as Japanther and Cerebral Ballzy. This diverse musical background contributed to their genre-defying sound, which critics have compared to Death Grips, Black Flag, and Bad Brains.
The group quickly established a presence in the music scene, relocating to Los Angeles in 2014. They were recognized by Rolling Stone as one of their “10 New Artists You Need to Know” in 2014 and featured as The Guardian’s “New Band of the Week.” Ho99o9 performed at significant festivals, including the Afropunk Festival in 2014, SXSW Music Festival in 2015, and Primavera Sound Festival in 2016. Their performances, noted for their high energy, have earned praise, with The New York Times describing one as a “welcome charge of adrenaline.” These early milestones cemented their reputation as a dynamic live act and a compelling new voice in music.
Throughout their career, Ho99o9 has released multiple EPs, mixtapes, and three full-length albums: “United States of Horror” (2017), “SKIN” (2022), and “Tomorrow We Escape” (2025). They embarked on successful tours, supporting acts like The Dillinger Escape Plan in 2017 and joining Three Days Grace, Prophets of Rage, and Avenged Sevenfold on the End of the World Tour. In 2019, they also toured with Korn, Alice in Chains, and Underoath. Their music has been featured in popular culture, notably with “Pig Dinner” appearing in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020. The duo continues to innovate, exploring deeply personal lyrics while maintaining their intense musical style.
