I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, often abbreviated as IDKHow, is an innovative American indie pop project spearheaded by singer-songwriter Dallon Weekes, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Originally formed in 2016 as a duo with drummer Ryan Seaman, the band quickly gained attention for their unique sound and theatrical style. Their debut EP, “1981 Extended Play,” released in 2018, was met with critical acclaim, earning the title of “the hottest unsigned band in the world” by Rock Sound. This success led to their signing with Fearless Records, marking the beginning of a promising career.
The duo’s first studio album, “Razzmatazz,” was released in October 2020 and showcased their eclectic blend of influences, drawing from 1980s pop culture and music. The album received positive reviews, with critics praising Weekes’ lyricism and the band’s ability to meld various genres. Following the album’s release, IDKHow made several notable television appearances, including performances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” further solidifying their presence in the music industry.
In 2023, after Seaman’s departure, Weekes continued IDKHow as a solo project, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to the band’s vision. He announced the upcoming release of their second studio album, “Gloom Division,” set for February 2024, along with a series of singles that have already generated excitement among fans.
