Hailing from the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, Insomniacks has solidified their status as a powerhouse in the Malaysian pop scene. With a blend of pop rock and punk influences, the quartet—comprising Syed Mir Iqbal (Iqie), Wan Arif Iskandar (Iskandar), Danial Lee Hashim (Danial), and Gavin Wong (Gavin)—has captivated audiences with their infectious melodies and heartfelt lyrics.

Their journey to stardom began with the release of their debut single, “Selalu,” featured in the soundtrack of the Astro Ria drama, My Coffee Prince, in 2017. However, it was their sophomore release, “Pulang,” in 2018 that catapulted them into the spotlight. This single not only charted on the Malaysian RIM streaming charts for an impressive 146 consecutive weeks but also held a record-breaking 185-week presence as of July 2022.

Drawing inspiration from bands like 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy, and Paramore, Insomniacks has carved out a unique sound that resonates with fans across the nation. Their dedication to their craft and innovative marketing strategies, such as the Pulang WEBisode webseries, have contributed to their widespread success.

In addition to their musical endeavors, frontman Iqie co-founded the Klang Valley-based music collective, Distorted, showcasing the band’s commitment to fostering artistic collaboration and community.

Despite facing changes, such as Gavin’s hiatus in 2022, Insomniacks continues to push boundaries and redefine the Malaysian pop landscape. Their latest single, “Igauan Malam,” released in November 2022, serves as a testament to their unwavering passion and resilience in the face of adversity.
