Joel Ross is a distinguished vibraphonist, composer, and educator hailing from Chicago, Illinois. His musical journey began at the tender age of three when he received his first drum set, igniting a passion for music that would shape his future. By the age of ten, Ross was already performing in school bands and collaborating with the Jazz Institute of Chicago, where he honed his skills and developed a unique sound that blends traditional jazz with contemporary influences.

After graduating from the Chicago High School for the Arts, Ross furthered his education at the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet, where he studied under renowned vibraphonist Stefon Harris. This pivotal experience led him to New York City in 2015, where he formed his band, Good Vibes, and began to make a name for himself in the vibrant jazz scene. His debut album, *KingMaker*, released in 2019 under Blue Note Records, showcased his innovative approach to the vibraphone and received critical acclaim.

Ross’s contributions to jazz extend beyond performance; he is also a dedicated educator, sharing his knowledge and passion for music with aspiring musicians. His unique playing style, characterized by the use of two mallets instead of four, allows for a distinct rhythmic conversation within his ensembles, setting him apart from his contemporaries.

With multiple albums to his name and a growing reputation as a leading figure in modern jazz, Joel Ross continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
