Juliana Hatfield

Juliana Hatfield is a versatile American musician, singer-songwriter, and author, recognized for her impactful contributions to alternative rock as a solo artist and a member of influential bands like Blake Babies and The Lemonheads. After co-founding the critically acclaimed indie rock band Blake Babies in 1986 and releasing four albums between 1987 and 1991, Juliana Hatfield went on to contribute as bassist to The Lemonheads’ breakthrough 1992 album, ‘It’s a Shame About Ray.’ Hatfield concurrently launched her solo career with the debut album ‘Hey Babe’ in 1992. Her commercial breakthrough followed in 1993 with the formation of The Juliana Hatfield Three, featuring bassist Dean Fisher and drummer Todd Philips. Their album ‘Become What You Are’ produced two hit singles, ‘My Sister’ and ‘Spin the Bottle,’ with the latter also featured on the soundtrack for the 1994 film ‘Reality Bites.’ Following the initial disbandment of The Juliana Hatfield Three in 1994, Hatfield released the solo album ‘Only Everything’ in 1995, which included the alternative radio hit ‘Universal Heartbeat.’ She also toured as part of the influential Lilith Fair in 1997.

Hatfield’s prolific output continued into recent years with ‘Juliana Hatfield Sings ELO,’ released in 2023. Throughout her career, she has consistently released a steady stream of both original solo material and her widely celebrated cover albums, maintaining her influential presence in alternative rock and showcasing her distinctive artistic voice and musical range.
