Cyril Kamar, known as K.Maro, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on January 31, 1980. His family relocated to Montreal, Quebec, in 1991. His music career began in Canadian hip-hop, where he first gained recognition as part of the French-language hip-hop duo LMDS (Les Messagers du Son) in 1993. The duo released two successful albums, “Les Messagers du Son” in 1997 and “Il Faudrait Leur Dire” in 1999, achieving success within Quebec before disbanding in 2001.
Following the dissolution of LMDS, K.Maro embarked on a solo career. His breakthrough occurred in 2004 with the release of “Femme Like U” from his album “La Good Life.” This single achieved significant international success, reaching number one in 17 countries and selling over two million copies. The album “La Good Life” sold more than one million copies. He continued to build on this success with his third album, “Million Dollar Boy,” released in 2005, which also achieved Platinum certification. In 2006, he released “Platinum Remixes” to mark a decade in music, and in 2008, he released his first all-English album, “Perfect Stranger.”
Beyond his musical pursuits, K.Maro established himself as a businessman. In 2003, he founded K.Pone Inc Music Group, an entertainment company encompassing a record label, K.Pone Inc., and the Balbec clothing line. In 2010, he became CEO of Ambitious Boys Club label record at Warner Music France. By 2013, he co-founded East 47th Music, a record label, with Pascal Nègre and Universal Music Group. His business ventures also include a nightclub in Montreal and a restaurant in Miami. He is the founder, owner, and CEO of East 47th Music and Rock&Cherries Agency, a Paris-based talent management agency, both operating under the KEG company (Kamar Entertainment Group).
