Kard, a South Korean co-ed group, was founded by DSP Media and introduced in 2016. The group consists of members J.Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo. Prior to their official debut, Kard released three successful project singles: “Oh NaNa” in December 2016, “Don’t Recall” in February 2017, and “Rumor” in April 2017. These releases garnered significant international attention, with “Oh NaNa” reaching number 5 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart and contributing to their recognition as one of the “10 Best New K-pop Groups in 2016” by Billboard. The mixed-gender composition of the group was a notable factor in their early appeal within the K-pop industry.
Kard officially debuted on July 19, 2017, with their extended play (EP) “Hola Hola.” This debut EP charted at number 3 on Billboard World Albums, number 25 on Heatseekers Albums, and number 46 on the Independent Album Chart. The title track, “Hola Hola,” reached number 4 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. Following their debut, Kard engaged in extensive touring, including the “2017 Wild Kard Tour” across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, with all tickets selling out. They continued their touring efforts with the “2017 Wild Kard Tour PT. 2,” covering European and North American cities. Their second EP, “You & Me,” released in November 2017, charted at number 8 on the Gaon Album Chart and number 4 on the US World Albums Chart, further solidifying their international appeal.
Throughout their career, Kard has sustained a consistent release schedule and engaged in various global activities. In 2018, they released their third EP, “Ride On the Wind,” performing at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival and holding additional tour dates in Asia and Australia. Subsequent releases include the digital singles “Bomb Bomb” (2019) and “Dumb Litty” (2019), both charting successfully on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales. They have continued to release music, with the mini-album “Icky” in 2023, “Where To Now? (Pt. 1: Yellow Light)” in 2024, and announced “Drift” for July 2025.
