Kevin Eubanks

Kevin Eubanks is a versatile jazz and fusion guitarist and composer, widely recognized for his roles as bandleader on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and a prolific recording artist. His career spans decades, marked by numerous albums and collaborations with jazz legends. After making a significant mark performing with prominent jazz figures such as Art Blakey (1980–81), Roy Haynes, Slide Hampton, and Sam Rivers, Kevin Eubanks established himself as an innovative jazz and fusion guitarist and composer. In 1983, he formed his own quartet, embarking on international tours across Jordan, Pakistan, and India under the sponsorship of the U.S.

His musical talent and on-screen charisma quickly led to his promotion in 1995, where he ascended to the esteemed role of bandleader for ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,’ succeeding the renowned Branford Marsalis. During his tenure, he became a household name, showcasing his improvisational skills nightly. Eubanks continued his leadership, also helming ‘the Primetime Band’ on ‘The Jay Leno Show’ from 2009 to 2010, maintaining a prominent presence in late-night television until his departure from ‘The Tonight Show’ in 2010. In recognition of his distinguished career, he received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music in 2005.

Most recently, Kevin Eubanks rejoined forces with Jay Leno in 2021, taking on a role in the reboot of ‘You Bet Your Life.’ A versatile jazz and fusion guitarist and composer, Eubanks continues to perform and record, building upon a multi-decade career defined by groundbreaking albums, impactful television leadership, and international touring.
