He is widely recognized as the guitarist and vocalist of the punk rock band Hot Water Music, a group he co-fronted for several decades. Beyond his band work, Ragan has cultivated a prominent solo career, releasing various acoustic and folk-inspired material, including a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records and multiple studio albums through SideOneDummy Records, Dine Alone Records, and Rise Records. His musical path has also seen collaborations with other notable musicians and a consistent touring schedule across the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Ragan’s career is marked by his consistent musical output and his innovative approach to touring. In 2005, he developed The Revival Tour, an acoustic, collaborative event bringing together punk rock, bluegrass, and alt-country performers.
