Kindness

Kindness, also known as Adam Bainbridge, is a British-Asian musician, producer, and director with a career spanning over a decade, contributing to notable projects and fostering inclusivity in the music industry. After receiving the Eric James Johnson Memorial Fellowship at The Philadelphia Institute for Advance Study in 2007, Kindness went on to record their album ‘Live in Philly,’ distributed as a free MP3 download and CDr. Their independent career progressed with the 2009 debut single, ‘Swingin’ Party,’ released by Moshi Moshi Records, which included the track ‘Gee Up’ and an accompanying VHS video directed by Jack Latham. In October 2011, Kindness released ‘Cyan’ as a limited edition 12-inch vinyl through their own label, Female Energy, in the UK, and Terrible Records in North America.

Kindness’s influence extends to their acclaimed work as a DJ, performing at renowned venues and events globally, and hosting a monthly radio show for Red Bull Music Academy from 2016-2017. Their extensive production credits include significant projects such as Solange’s Grammy Award-winning ‘A Seat at the Table,’ Blood Orange’s ‘Freetown Sound’ and ‘Negro Swan,’ Robyn’s ‘Honey,’ and Jessie Ware’s ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’ This period also saw Kindness deliver a notable lecture for Red Bull Music Academy in 2015, delving into their music career and discussions on gender identity. Kindness’s latest album, ‘Something Like a War,’ was released in 2019, further solidifying their reputation as a critically acclaimed and multifaceted artist.
