La India, known as the ‘Princess of Salsa,’ has established herself as a leading figure in Latin music, transitioning from freestyle and house to become a celebrated salsa vocalist. After a pivotal shift in her career, La India released her critically acclaimed first Spanish-language salsa album, Llego La India via Eddie Palmieri, in 1992, solidifying her new artistic identity as a leading salsa vocalist. Prior to this, she began her career in 1985 with the Latin freestyle group TKA, appearing on their single ‘Come Get My Love,’ and released her debut album Breaking Night in 1990 through Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, featuring dance club hits such as ‘Dancing on the Fire.’ In 1994, La India achieved significant commercial success with Dicen Que Soy, produced by Sergio George, earning 2x gold certification on Billboard, spawning the hit ‘Ese Hombre,’ and featuring a memorable duet with Marc Anthony, ‘Vivir Lo Nuestro,’ firmly establishing her as a powerhouse in the Latin-American music scene.

A recipient of multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, La India was most recently ranked at number 113 on Rolling Stone’s prestigious list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time in 2023, affirming her enduring vocal prowess and global impact.
