After releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, Lightweights and Gentlemen, in 2007 via Reveal Records, the British folk band Lau, comprised of Kris Drever (guitar and vocals), Martin Green (accordion, piano, electronics), and Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle), quickly established itself as a pioneering force in contemporary folk music. The trio’s innovative blend of traditional elements with experimental and post-rock influences garnered significant recognition, including the prestigious ‘Best Group’ award at the BBC Folk Awards in 2008.
