Lee Hyun has transitioned from a successful vocal group member to a versatile solo artist and songwriter, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the K-pop industry. After winning MBC’s ‘Show Vival’ and subsequently debuting as the main vocalist of the co-ed group 8Eight in 2007, Lee Hyun quickly established a reputation for his vocal sensitivities, leading the group to become a top vocal act in Korea’s competitive coffee house scene. Joining Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee in 2005 and officially signing with the company in 2007, Lee Hyun spearheaded 8Eight through a successful period, releasing three studio albums and two extended plays between 2007 and 2011. Further showcasing his versatility, he formed the project duo Homme alongside Lee Chang-min of 2AM in 2010, captivating wider audiences with his powerful vocal delivery.
Following the disbandment of the project duo Homme in 2018, he broadened his creative contributions by lending his voice to the ‘BTS World: Original Soundtrack’ in 2019. Maintaining a strong relationship with his long-term label, Lee Hyun renewed his contract with Big Hit Music in March 2021, the same year he opened his official YouTube channel and participated in 8Eight’s commemorative comeback with a new single. Most recently, in a testament to his innovative spirit, Lee Hyun became the first artist to debut as part of Hybe Corp’s groundbreaking ‘Project L’ in March 2023. Under the alter ego Midnatt, he released the single ‘Masquerade,’ an ambitious project that ingeniously utilized advanced AI voice synthesis and extended reality technologies to deliver a truly unique and immersive musical experience, cementing his position at the forefront of evolving musical artistry.
