Lido Pimienta

Lido Pimienta is a Colombian Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter whose innovative sound has captivated audiences worldwide. She first made her mark in the music industry with her debut album, Color, released in 2010. Produced by her then-husband Michael Ramey, the album showcased her unique blend of traditional Colombian music and contemporary styles, setting the stage for her future success.

Pimienta’s career took a significant leap forward with her critically acclaimed second album, La Papessa, released in 2016. This self-produced work not only won the prestigious 2017 Polaris Music Prize but also solidified her reputation as a leading voice in Canadian music. The album’s experimental nature and incorporation of indigenous and Afro-Colombian influences earned her accolades, with The Globe and Mail recognizing her as “the future of Canadian rock and roll.”

In addition to her musical achievements, Pimienta has made notable contributions as a visual artist and curator. Her work often explores themes of gender, race, and identity, reflecting her rich cultural heritage.
