About

Lucie Silvas, born Lucie Joanne Silverman in 1980 in Surrey, England, demonstrated an early aptitude for music, beginning piano at age five and composing her first song by age ten. Her childhood involved time spent across England, New Zealand, and Scotland. At a young age, she left high school to work as a background singer for Gary Barlow of Take That. In 2000, she signed with EMI imprint Chrysalis Records, releasing her debut single “It’s Too Late.” However, she was released from the label before completing an album. Following this, Silvas focused on songwriting, contributing to tracks for artists like Liberty X and Will Young.

Her dedication to performing her own material led to a contract with Mercury Records in 2003. Her full-length debut album, “Breathe In,” was released in 2004, achieving significant success by reaching number one in the Netherlands and peaking at number 11 in the U.K. Silvas spent the subsequent years touring extensively across the U.K., Europe, and Asia. Her second album, “The Same Side,” was released in October 2006 in the Netherlands, reaching the Top Five of their album chart, and later in the U.K. in November, where it peaked at number 62. After parting ways with Mercury, Silvas continued her songwriting work, collaborating on “Même Si” with Grégory Lemarchal in 2009 and co-writing multiple tracks for Katharine McPhee’s 2010 album “Unbroken.” In 2011, she opened for Jamiroquai at the O2 Arena.

Silvas relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where her songwriting continued to garner attention. In 2013, a song she co-wrote, “Fall to Fly,” was featured on the ABC series Nashville, and her work also appeared on NBC’s Smash. Over the next few years, she wrote for artists including Lucy Hale, Dave Barnes, and Jamie Scott. In 2015, Silvas released her independent EP, “Lucie Silvas,” through her own label, Furthestpoint. That same year, she married John Osborne of Brothers Osborne and released her second studio album, “Letters to Ghosts,” which was reissued by Decca the following year. In 2016, she provided backing vocals and co-wrote “Smoking Jacket” for Miranda Lambert’s album “The Weight of These Wings.” Silvas continued to write for artists such as Lily & Madeleine, Kandace Springs, and Reba McEntire. Her solo album, “E.G.O.,” released in 2018 on Furthestpoint, featured collaborations with JD McPherson, Tenille Townes, and Natalie Hemby, and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and 35 on the Independent Albums chart. In 2021, she released collaborative singles “Cool Down” with Sheryl Crow and “We Don’t Know We’re Living” with Brandi Carlile and Joy Oladokun.
