About

Dallas Hendry Smith, born on December 4, 1977, in New Westminster, British Columbia, developed a passion for music early in life, drawing inspiration from artists like The Beatles and country singers Reba McEntire and The Judds. Despite initial shyness, he engaged with music by playing cover songs with friends, eventually signing his first record deal at 21. From 1999 to 2009, Smith fronted the hard rock and post-grunge band Default from Vancouver. Their debut album, “The Fallout” (2001), gained significant success with tracks like “Wasting My Time” and “Deny.” Default received a Juno Award for “Best New Group” in 2002 and achieved RIAA platinum certification for “The Fallout” in 2003, selling over a million records. The band continued to release albums, including “Elocation” (2003) which was certified gold, “One Thing Remains” (2005), and “Comes and Goes” (2009).

In 2011, Smith initiated his solo country music career, releasing his debut country album “Jumped Right In” on May 22, 2012, through 604 Records. Produced by Joey Moi, the album reached number 19 on the Canadian Albums Chart and produced five charted singles on the Canadian Hot 100. “Jumped Right In” was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2013 Juno Awards and Album of the Year at the 2013 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, selling over 100,000 digital singles. Smith embarked on his first solo tour, the “Boys of Fall Tour,” in November 2012, co-headlining with Chad Brownlee across 22 Canadian cities, with 20 sold-out dates. Following the tour’s success, Smith and Brownlee established the annual Boys of Fall Charity Golf Tournament and Concert, benefiting Basics for Babies. In October 2013, Smith signed with Republic Nashville, releasing his first American single, “Tippin’ Point,” which became a top-five Canadian country radio hit and was certified Platinum by Music Canada. The accompanying video for “Tippin’ Point” topped CMT Canada’s charts, and the song reached number one on Sirius XM’s The Highway Hot 45 Countdown in the US, selling over 120,000 singles.

Smith continued his solo career with the EP “Tippin’ Point” (2014) and his second full-length album, “Lifted” (2014), recorded in Nashville with Joey Moi. “Wastin’ Gas,” the first single from “Lifted,” became his first number one hit on the Canada Country chart. His third album, “Side Effects” (2016), produced multiple singles and led to him joining Keith Urban on his “Ripcord World Tour” in Canada. From 2018 to 2020, Smith released “The Fall” EP (2019), which featured four consecutive number one singles, a record he surpassed with his next album. His fourth studio album, “Timeless,” released on August 28, 2020, included all tracks from “The Fall” and additional singles. In August 2021, Smith signed a global recording deal with Big Loud Records and launched Local Hay Records, a joint venture that signed Shawn Austin. He hosted the “Lifted Hotel Festival” in September 2021, with proceeds supporting the Lifted Dallas Smith Charitable Foundation for mental health. Smith embarked on “The Some Things Never Change Tour” in early 2022 and released his self-titled fifth studio album, “Dallas Smith,” on October 27, 2023. In October 2023, he announced his first acting role in “Soul’s Road.” He is scheduled for a 52-date “Unplugged” Tour across Canada in the fall of 2025.
