Aaron Shust

Aaron Michael Shust was born on October 31, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, and spent his formative years near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His musical and spiritual journey began early, studying music theory at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, where he was exposed to classical composers like Mozart and Bach, alongside modern influences like U2 and Bob Marley. During his college years, Shust started performing in churches and coffeehouses, developing his craft as a worship leader and songwriter. From 2000 to 2005, he led worship at Perimeter Church in Duluth, Georgia. His debut album, “Anything Worth Saying,” was recorded in 2004, and following its delivery to Brash Music by producer Dan Hannon, Shust secured a record deal.

The release of “Anything Worth Saying” in 2005 marked a significant turning point in Shust’s career. The album’s hit single, “My Savior My God,” achieved widespread success, peaking at No. 1 on six different Christian music charts simultaneously by April 2006. This song maintained a strong presence on the R&R Christian AC chart, spending 30 weeks in the Top 5 during 2006, and was recognized as the No. 1 song of the year by 20 The Countdown Magazine. At the 2007 GMA Dove Awards, Shust received three prestigious awards: Songwriter of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year for “My Savior My God.” His second studio album, “Whispered and Shouted,” followed in 2007, selling 5,000 copies in its first week. Subsequent albums and singles continued his presence in the Christian music scene, including “Take Over” in 2009 with the hit single “To God Alone,” and “This Is What We Believe” in 2011, produced by Ed Cash. His 2014 Christmas album, “Unto Us,” featured innovative arrangements recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. In recent years, Aaron has also dedicated himself to leading trips to Israel, utilizing his music to connect with biblical roots and Jewish traditions, experiences that informed his project, “Heaven + Earth: The Psalms Project.”
