About

Walid Georgey, known professionally as Maes, was born on January 10, 1995, and grew up in Beaudottes in Sevran, a commune in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, France. His early life in Sevran, shared with his five brothers and two sisters, significantly influenced his musical direction. Maes began his journey into rap at the age of 14, forming the trio MSR with his friends Radmo and SY3. His musical career continued to develop even through a period of incarceration from 2016 to 2017 in Villepinte prison, during which he released several songs and a mixtape titled “Reelle Vie.”

Upon his release from detention, Maes quickly re-engaged with the music scene, releasing “#MaesEstLibérable” and making his debut as a supporting act for the group 13 Block in December 2017 at La Bellevilloise. His second mixtape, “Réelle Vie 2.0,” released on March 2, 2018, garnered significant attention, leading to his signing with Millenium, a division of Capitol Music France. This marked a turning point in his career, propelling him further into the spotlight. In 2018, he released his debut album, “Pure,” showcasing his evolving artistry.

Maes achieved widespread recognition with his single “Madrina,” featuring French rapper Booba, which reached the top of the SNEP French Singles Chart; its music video was filmed in Bogotá. This success was followed by his second studio album, “Les derniers salopards,” in 2020. Throughout his career, Maes has consistently released new music, including additional mixtapes like “Réelle vie 3.0” in 2021 and “En attendant LVC II” in 2024, along with studio albums such as “Omerta” (2023) and “La vie continue” (2024), demonstrating his sustained productivity and impact in the French hip hop scene.
