Mark Morton

Mark Morton is a lead guitarist and songwriter known for his influential work in heavy metal and his expansive solo projects. After establishing his foundational heavy metal sound with Burn the Priest, contributing to their 1995 demo tape and various split releases in 1997 and 1998, Mark Morton went on to co-found Lamb of God. His distinctive guitar work, characterized by heavy riffs and instrumental versatility, propelled the band through their initial releases. These included New American Gospel (2000) and As the Palaces Burn (2003).

His exploration into Southern rock and Americana continued with the album Without The Pain, released on April 11, 2024, which features collaborations with acclaimed artists including Jason Isbell, Charlie Starr, Grace Bowers, and Jaren Johnston. Demonstrating his multifaceted talent, Morton also authored the memoir, Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir, released on June 25, 2024, offering candid insights into his personal and professional journey within the music industry. Concurrently with his solo endeavors, Morton has continued his integral role as lead guitarist for Lamb of God, contributing to their self-titled album Lamb of God in 2020 and Omens in 2022. His extensive discography across major labels such as Epic Records, Nuclear Blast, Roadrunner Records, Spinefarm, and Rise Records underscores his established and enduring presence as an influential songwriter and musician within the heavy metal genre and beyond.
