Matt Lauria

Matt Lauria was born on August 15, 1982, in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. He moved to Ireland with his family at the age of seven, where his father worked as an animator and artist. Lauria spent his formative years in Dublin before returning to the U.S. for high school. He pursued formal acting training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama. His career began shortly after graduating, making his television debut in 2007.

Lauria quickly gained recognition for his work, with early roles in television series such as “30 Rock” and “Lipstick Jungle.” His breakout role came as Luke Cafferty in the critically acclaimed drama “Friday Night Lights,” where he was a main cast member for two seasons from 2009 to 2011. Following this, he took on a starring role as Caleb Evers in “The Chicago Code” in 2011. His career continued with significant recurring roles, including Ryan York in “Parenthood” (2012-2015), and a main role as Ryan Wheeler in “Kingdom” (2014-2017).

Over the years, Lauria has consistently engaged in a variety of projects across film and television. He appeared in films like “Miss Bala” (2019) and “Shaft” (2019), and continued his television work with roles in “Tell Me a Story” (2019-2020) and “Little Birds” (2020). Since 2021, he has been a series regular, playing Josh Folsom, on the crime thriller “CSI: Vegas.” Lauria is also an avid electric guitarist and has been married to Michelle Armstrong since August 26, 2006.
