Matthew Guion Maher is a prominent Canadian contemporary Christian music artist, songwriter, and worship leader whose career has significantly impacted the genre. He has released nine albums, with three reaching the Top 25 on the Christian Albums Billboard chart. Maher’s songwriting prowess is evident in his notable tracks such as “Your Grace Is Enough,” “I Will Rise,” and “Lord I Need You,” which have resonated with audiences worldwide. His contributions to Christian music have earned him nine Grammy Award nominations and the prestigious Songwriter of the Year award at the 2015 GMA Dove Awards.

Maher’s musical journey began in Newfoundland, Canada, where he honed his skills through piano lessons and participation in various musical ensembles. After moving to the United States, he pursued a music degree at Arizona State University, where he specialized in jazz piano. His early career included a significant role at St. Timothy Catholic Community, where he began writing songs for worship, leading to the release of three independent albums through Spirit and Song.

His first major-label album, “Empty and Beautiful,” was released in 2008, followed by the successful “Alive Again” in 2009, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
