Matt Maltese is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer, known for his indie pop, indie rock, and chamber pop musical styles. His work includes four studio albums and collaborations with notable artists and institutions such as the Royal Shakespeare Company. After releasing his debut single ‘Even If It’s a Lie’ on SoundCloud in 2015, Matt Maltese went on to establish a distinctive voice in indie pop, indie rock, and chamber pop. Following this initial success, he signed with Café Bleu Recordings, a subdivision of Atlantic Records, in 2016, leading to the release of his acclaimed EP, In a New Bed, later that same year.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, Maltese released a series of singles, including ‘Ballad of a Pandemic’ and ‘Queen Bee,’ showcasing his evolving sound. These releases culminated in his third studio album, Good Morning It’s Now Tomorrow, which arrived in October 2021, further solidifying his presence in the indie music scene. Demonstrating significant career progression, Maltese released his EP Quiet Recordings in April 2022, followed by his fourth studio album, Driving Just to Drive, in April 2023. This period also saw him expand his professional endeavors beyond his solo work; in summer 2023, he founded his own record label, Last Recordings On Earth.
In March 2024, Maltese released Songs That Aren’t Mine, a cover album, and expanded into composing for the stage, contributing music to the Royal Shakespeare Companys production of Twelfth Night in December 2024. Looking ahead, Matt Maltese is set to release his fifth studio album, Hers, in May 2025. Beyond his own recordings, he is a sought-after songwriter, having penned tracks for a diverse range of artists including Birdy, Matilda Mann, Joy Crookes, and Jamie T, highlighting his versatility and collaborative spirit within the industry.
