Melanie Brown, known globally as Mel B or Scary Spice, is an acclaimed singer, songwriter, dancer, television personality, and actress who has also become a vocal advocate for charitable causes and vulnerable women. After achieving global superstardom as ‘Scary Spice’ in the iconic pop group the Spice Girls, Melanie Brown launched a multifaceted career spanning music, television, and advocacy. The group, formed in 1994, rapidly became the best-selling female group of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide. Their debut album, ‘Spice,’ released after signing with Virgin Records, topped charts in more than 17 countries and sold 30 million copies globally, propelled by hit singles including ‘Wannabe,’ ‘Say You’ll Be There,’ and ‘2 Become 1.’ Brown then embarked on a solo career in 1998, releasing the UK Singles Chart-topping hit ‘I Want You Back,’ followed by her debut solo album ‘Hot’ in 2000.
Brown made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in ‘Chicago’ in 2017, and her commitment to the Spice Girls legacy included a performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony and the ‘Spice World 2019 Tour.’ Beyond entertainment, Brown was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women, particularly her work with Women’s Aid. She competed on ‘The Masked Singer UK’ as Seahorse in 2021 and continued judging on ‘The Masked Singer Australia’ (2022-2023) and ‘Queen of the Universe’ (2023). In 2024, Brown served as a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League’ and was honored with an Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Beckett University in July. She is slated to return to the judging panel of ‘Americas Got Talent’ in 2025.
