Melanie Brown

Born Melanie Janine Brown on May 29, 1975, in Leeds, England, she rose to international fame in the mid-1990s as ‘Scary Spice’ in the pop group the Spice Girls. The group, which included Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Adams, and Emma Bunton, was formed in 1994 after responding to an advertisement. They quickly achieved global success, selling over 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling female group of all time. Their debut album, ‘Spice,’ released after signing with Virgin Records, topped charts in over 17 countries and sold 30 million copies globally. Hit singles like ‘Wannabe,’ ‘Say You’ll Be There,’ and ‘2 Become 1’ further solidified their iconic status. She embarked on a solo career in 1998, releasing the UK Singles Chart-topping hit ‘I Want You Back,’ followed by her debut solo album ‘Hot’ in 2000.

Following her initial solo work, Melanie Brown diversified her career into television and acting. She hosted British TV shows such as ‘Pure Naughty’ and ‘This Is My Moment,’ and made her theater debut in ‘The Vagina Monologues.’ Her acting credits include roles in ‘Burn It’ (2003) and ‘The Seat Filler’ (2004). In 2007, she competed on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the US, finishing second, and joined the Spice Girls for their highly anticipated ‘Return of the Spice Girls’ reunion tour. This tour was a significant financial success, with each member reportedly earning £10 million. Her career as a television personality expanded with judging roles on ‘The X Factor’ in both Australia and the UK, and ‘America’s Got Talent,’ where she served as a judge for multiple seasons from 2013 to 2018 and again from 2025.
