Mental Cruelty

Mental Cruelty is a German deathcore band that has established a presence in the extreme metal scene with their consistent album releases and record label partnerships. After establishing their potent presence in the extreme metal scene with early independent releases, Mental Cruelty first gained recognition with their debut demo ‘Sickening World’ in 2015, quickly following with the critically acclaimed EP ‘Pereat Mundus’ in 2016. These initial efforts showcased the band’s distinctive blend of deathcore and slam death metal elements, effectively laying the groundwork for their technical sound within the underground extreme metal community. Their burgeoning reputation attracted Rising Nemesis Records, under which Mental Cruelty released their debut album, ‘Purgatorium,’ in 2018, a significant step that garnered increased exposure and widespread critical attention.

This new chapter was further solidified by the addition of Lukas Nicolai, formerly of Sun Eater, who joined as their new vocalist, ushering in a fresh dynamic. In 2023, Mental Cruelty unveiled their highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Zwielicht,’ which further evolved their signature sound, delving deeper into blackened deathcore fused with symphonic influences, earning praise for its ambitious scope and intricate songwriting. Demonstrating their ongoing artistic development and commitment to pushing genre boundaries, Mental Cruelty most recently released compelling orchestral and instrumental versions from their acclaimed ‘Zwielicht’ album. This continued exploration of their sonic landscape reinforces their position as a formidable and innovative presence in the extreme metal scene, consistently showcasing their versatility, dynamic growth, and unwavering dedication to their craft.
