About

Michael Joseph Grimm, born on December 30, 1978, in Fort Carson, Colorado, later resided in Waveland, Mississippi, growing up with his grandparents. Before gaining national recognition, Grimm established himself performing at casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada, for eleven years, honing his craft as a blues and soul singer. His career trajectory changed significantly in 2010 when he auditioned for the fifth season of America’s Got Talent in Los Angeles. Throughout the competition, Grimm impressed judges and audiences with his renditions of classic songs such as “You Don’t Know Me,” “Try a Little Tenderness,” “Tired of Being Alone,” “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” and “Let’s Stay Together.” His performance of “When a Man Loves a Woman” in the finale ultimately secured him the win.

Following his victory on America’s Got Talent, Grimm received a one-million-dollar prize and a headlining spot for the AGT Tour Show, including a show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. He utilized a portion of his winnings to fulfill a promise to build his grandparents a new home in Mississippi. On September 29, 2010, Michael Grimm signed a record deal with Epic Records. His self-titled debut album, released in May 2011, achieved commercial success, debuting at number 13 on the US Pop Music Charts and selling 23,000 copies in its first week. He further promoted his music with appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing his single “Fallin’.”

Significant milestones in Grimm’s career include his participation in the 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and collaborating with Smokey Robinson to raise over $1 million during the 37th Annual Candlelight Concert. In 2011, he opened for Stevie Nicks on tour, broadening his audience. He returned to the America’s Got Talent stage for America’s Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. In 2023, Grimm faced a challenging period due to a “mysterious illness” that required hospitalization. Following his recovery, he has resumed performing in the Las Vegas area and continues to release music, with albums including “Gumbo” (2012) and “Grimm” (2015) in his discography.
