Moderatto is a renowned Mexican rock band that emerged from Mexico City in the late 1990s, celebrated for their unique blend of glam rock and parody of 1980s hair metal culture. The band was formed by five friends: Jay de la Cueva, Javier Ramírez, Marcelo Lara, Iñaki Vázquez, and Olallo Rubio. They made their mainstream debut with the album “Resurrexión” in 2001, which quickly gained traction with hit singles like “Márchate Ya” and “Isabel,” establishing them as a prominent force in the Latin rock scene.
In 2004, Moderatto released their second album, “El Detector de Metal,” featuring a successful collaboration with pop singer Belinda on the single “Muriendo Lento.” Their third album, “¡Grrrr!” released in 2006, showcased their ability to create catchy rock anthems, with the single “Sentimettal” reaching No. 3 on the Mexican Top 40 charts. Over the years, three of their first five albums achieved platinum status, solidifying their reputation in the music industry.
The band has not only captivated audiences in Mexico and Latin America but also made international appearances, including performances in Japan. Their energetic live shows and theatrical performances have garnered a dedicated fan base, affectionately known as the “Moderatto Army.” They have shared the stage with iconic bands like Kiss and Bon Jovi, further enhancing their visibility.
After more than two decades of success, Moderatto announced their farewell tour in 2023, celebrating their legacy with fans across Mexico. With a discography that includes nine studio albums and numerous collaborations, Moderatto leaves an indelible mark on the rock genre, known for their playful yet powerful music that continues to resonate with audiences.
