Neck Deep is a dynamic Welsh pop-punk band that has made significant strides in the music industry since their formation in 2012. The band emerged from Wrexham, founded by vocalist Ben Barlow and lead guitarist Lloyd Roberts, who initially gained attention with their debut single “What Did You Expect?”. This early success led to the addition of rhythm guitarist Matt West, drummer Dani Washington, and bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans, solidifying their lineup and paving the way for their first EP, “Rain in July”, which garnered widespread acclaim and established them as a rising force in the pop-punk scene.
In 2014, Neck Deep released their debut album, “Wishful Thinking”, which marked their transition to a full-time band. The album’s success allowed them to tour extensively, including performances at the Vans Warped Tour, and earned them the Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer. Their sophomore album, “Life’s Not out to Get You”, released in 2015, further solidified their reputation, debuting at No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales list and showcasing their growth as songwriters and performers.
The band’s third album, “The Peace and the Panic”, released in 2017, debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200, highlighting their continued evolution and ability to resonate with audiences. Following lineup changes, including the addition of guitarist Sam Bowden and bassist Seb Barlow, Neck Deep released their fourth album, “All Distortions Are Intentional”, in 2020, which was met with critical acclaim and showcased their innovative approach to pop-punk.
Most recently, Neck Deep has continued to thrive, releasing their self-titled fifth album in January 2024. With a series of successful singles leading up to the album’s release, the band has demonstrated their resilience and commitment to their craft. Neck Deep’s ability to adapt and grow while maintaining their signature sound has solidified their place as one of the leading bands in the pop-punk genre.
