Olivia Holt was born in Germantown, Tennessee, on August 5, 1997. She began singing and acting on stage at age three. Growing up, she studied gymnastics for seven years and was also actively involved in competitive cheerleading. Holt appeared in numerous community theatre productions, including “Annie” and “Through the Looking Glass.” Her early career included appearances in national TV commercials for brands such as Hasbro, Mattel, and Bratz dolls, demonstrating her presence in entertainment from a young age. In 2011, Holt moved to Los Angeles with her family to pursue further opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Holt’s professional acting career began in television. In 2011, she secured a role as Kim Crawford in the Disney XD series “Kickin’ It,” performing martial arts. This role established her in youth programming. She later starred as Skylar Lewis in the 2012 Disney Channel Original Movie “Girl vs. Monster.” In 2014, she transitioned to a lead role in the Disney Channel comedy series “I Didn’t Do It” as Lindy Watson, which ran for two seasons. Her career progressed into more mature roles with a major part as Tandy Bowen / Dagger in the Freeform and Marvel Comics television series “Cloak & Dagger” from 2018 to 2020. During this period, she also reprised her role in the animated series “Spider-Man” and in a crossover episode of “Runaways.” In 2021, Holt took on the role of Kate Wallis in the psychological thriller series “Cruel Summer,” showcasing her range.
Simultaneously, Holt cultivated a music career. She recorded songs for “Girl vs. Monster” in 2012 and covered “Winter Wonderland” for the Disney Channel Holiday Playlist album. In 2014, she signed a record deal with Hollywood Records, releasing her debut single “Phoenix” in 2016, followed by her EP, “Olivia.” She embarked on her first tour, the Rise of a Phoenix Tour, in 2016. Her single “Generous” topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 2017. Holt made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” in April 2023, further diversifying her performance credits. She has also held voice roles in animated films like “Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast” (2014) and “Gnome Alone” (2017).
