Olivia Jean

Olivia Jean is a multi-instrumentalist whose career spans gothic rock, garage rock, and collaborations with prominent artists before launching a solo career with Third Man Records. After her surf-inspired instrumental demos garnered the attention of Jack White in 2009, multi-instrumentalist Olivia Jean was invited to record at his Nashville studio, Third Man Records. This pivotal moment led to her permanent relocation to Nashville by 2011. Jean’s early professional recognition includes receiving third place for featured writing at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Spring Conference in 2006 and participating in the Detroit Festival of the Arts in 2008 by replicating Andy Warhol’s ‘Red Jackie’ with chalk.

Following the dissolution of The Black Belles in 2012, Jean embarked on a prolific solo career. Her debut solo album, Bathtub Love Killings, was released in 2014, leading to a performance of ‘Merry Widow’ on Conan that same year. She continued to evolve her sound with the release of her second solo album, Night Owl, in 2019. Demonstrating her diverse collaborative spirit, Jean also released the EP Palladium with April March in 2021.

Most recently, Olivia Jean unveiled her third solo album, Raving Ghost, in 2023. Throughout her career, Jean has distinguished herself as a versatile multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and performer, traversing genres from gothic rock to garage rock. Her extensive discography and high-profile collaborations underscore her dynamic artistry and continuous output, making her a highly sought-after talent in the music industry.
