Marion Meadows is a Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer, and producer recognized for his contributions to contemporary and smooth jazz. He has garnered chart-topping success and maintains a diverse career as a graphic artist and semi-pro cyclist. After gaining significant recognition as a sideman for artists including Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, Phyllis Hyman, Ray Charles, and The Temptations, Marion Meadows launched his solo recording career in 1990 with ‘For Lovers Only’ released by Novus/RCA, establishing himself as a fixture on smooth jazz radio. Prior to his solo debut, Meadows worked extensively in studio, arranging, composing, and performing as a session musician.
This was followed by the best-selling ‘Soul Traveler’ (2015), an album that achieved significant success by peaking at number five on the Jazz Albums chart. In recognition of his musical contributions and career achievements, Wilberforce University awarded him a doctorate in 2016. Meadows maintained his critical and commercial momentum with ‘Soul City’ (2018), which soared to number two on the jazz albums chart. In recent years, Marion Meadows has continued to expand his musical catalog, releasing ‘Christmas With You’ in 2019, followed by ‘Twice as Nice’ in 2021.
Most recently, he released his album ‘Just Doing Me’ in 2024, further cementing his enduring legacy in contemporary jazz.
