Prairie Oyster

Prairie Oyster is an award-winning Canadian country-rock band recognized for their significant contributions to Canadian country music, with multiple Juno Awards and CCMA accolades. After securing a recording contract with RCA Records, Prairie Oyster released their debut album ‘Different Kind of Fire’ in 1990 across Canada and the United States. The album yielded the single ‘Goodbye, So Long, Hello,’ which reached the Top 70 on the U.S. country charts and contributed to their early Canadian success.

That same year, Prairie Oyster earned their first Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Group or Duo of the Year award, followed by their inaugural Juno Award for Country Group or Duo of the Year in 1991. Their second RCA album, ‘Everybody Knows,’ followed in 1991. Prairie Oyster’s critical and commercial acclaim intensified through the early to mid-1990s. In 1992, they received multiple CCMA Awards, notably Album of the Year for ‘Everybody Knows,’ and another Juno for Country Group or Duo of the Year.

While the band is no longer actively touring as a unit, key members Russell de Carle and Keith Glass continue to pursue individual solo projects and collaborations, ensuring Prairie Oyster remains a revered name celebrated for its significant and lasting contributions to the genre.
