Rainbow Kitten Surprise

Rainbow Kitten Surprise has transitioned from an Appalachian State dorm room band to a globally recognized alternative rock indie group, known for their distinctive sound and impactful releases. After independently releasing their debut EP ‘Mary’ and full-length album ‘Seven’ in 2013, Rainbow Kitten Surprise quickly established their distinctive sound, later re-releasing the combined projects as ‘Seven + Mary.’ The band, initially comprised of Darrick Keller and Ela Melo, grew to include Ethan Goodpaster, Jess Haney, and Charlie Holt. Early in their career, they collaborated with Split Rail Records, a student-run label. Between 2014 and 2017, Rainbow Kitten Surprise significantly expanded their presence, performing at major music festivals including the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and the Austin City Limits Festival.

Marking their return to active recording, Rainbow Kitten Surprise released the singles ‘Superstar’ and ‘LOL’ on March 8, 2024. These tracks preceded the release of their highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Love Hate Music Box,’ on May 10, 2024, an album which profoundly reflects Melo’s personal experiences over the past six years. The band further expanded their 2024 offerings with the single ‘Overtime’ featuring Kacey Musgraves on April 5, and ‘SVO’ on April 26. Looking ahead to 2025, Rainbow Kitten Surprise has scheduled the release of additional singles including ‘Espionage’ on February 14 and ‘Dang’ on July 18, with their next album, ‘Bones,’ slated for release on September 26, 2025.
