About

Rodney Jerome Brown, Jr. (born September 24, 1984), professionally known as RJMrLA, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California. His music career began to gain momentum in 2013 with the release of his debut mixtape, “O.M.M.I.O” (On My Mama I’m On), hosted and largely produced by DJ Mustard. This initial project established his presence in the West Coast hip-hop scene and marked the start of a series of successful collaborations. He further cemented his connections by appearing on YG’s debut album, “My Krazy Life,” in 2014, showcasing his versatility on tracks like “Thank God (Interlude)” and “When I Was Gone.”

Throughout his career, RJMrLA has demonstrated consistent musical output and strategic partnerships. He released the sequel to his debut mixtape, “O.M.M.I.O. 2,” in 2015, which featured the lead single “Get Rich” in collaboration with Choice and Iamsu!. His music also extended beyond traditional releases, notably contributing to the soundtrack of “NBA 2K16” with the original song “You Don’t Want It,” alongside DJ Mustard. In 2017, he released the collaborative album “The Ghetto” with DJ Mustard, highlighting a strong creative partnership. His commitment to his craft is also evident through his own label, OMMIO, under which he has released various projects, including “On God” (2019) and the DJ Drama collaboration “OMMIO Grillz” (2023).

RJMrLA’s career progression includes significant album releases and notable guest appearances. His 2019 album, “On God,” featured a lineup of prominent artists such as Schoolboy Q, Young Thug, G-Eazy, and Snoop Dogg, broadening his reach within the rap community. In 2022, he released “Rodney Brown Jr.,” which included collaborations with Roddy Ricch and Ty Dolla Sign, further showcasing his ability to attract high-profile talent. Recently, in June 2024, he performed his song “Get Rich” at Kendrick Lamar’s concert, “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends,” and was featured in Calmatic’s music video for Lamar’s song “Squabble Up.” These recent activities highlight his continued relevance and active participation in the contemporary hip-hop landscape.
