Rylo Rodriguez

Ryan Preston Dunnell Adams, known professionally as Rylo Rodriguez, was born on September 30, 1993, in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up in the Roger Williams Housing Projects, raised by his grandfather alongside his mother, sister, and two brothers. Rodriguez began his music career by featuring on Lil Baby’s singles “Eat Or Starve” and “Stick On Me.” His early music was characterized by sampling classic pop and R&B songs, repurposing them to tell stories about his life, as seen in tracks like “Project Baby,” which sampled Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby,” and “Valentines,” which sampled Tamia’s “Can’t Get Enough.”

In 2018, Rodriguez collaborated with fellow Mobile rapper NoCap on the mixtape Rogerville. His career saw a significant turning point in February 2020 when he signed with Lil Baby’s record label, 4 Pockets Full (4PF), in a joint venture with Virgin Music. That same year, he was featured on the track “Forget That” from Lil Baby’s album My Turn. His debut studio album, “G.I.H.F. (Goat In Human Form),” released on November 27, 2020, achieving commercial success by peaking within the top 40 of the Billboard 200 chart. The album also reached number 2 on the Rolling Stone Breakthrough 25 and number 48 on the Rolling Stone Artists 500 charts.

Building on this momentum, Rylo Rodriguez continued to release successful music. In 2021, he was featured on EST Gee’s song “5500 Degrees” alongside Lil Baby and 42 Dugg, which reached number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his first entry on the chart. His second studio album, “Been One,” released on June 30, 2023, further solidified his career, peaking within the top ten of the Billboard 200. The album included the single “Thang for You” featuring NoCap, which became his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist. Rodriguez’s distinctive style, which Rolling Stone dubbed the “Southern Prince of Rap Samples,” demonstrates his versatility as an artist.
