Shakira’s breakthrough came with her 1995 album, Pies Descalzos, which sold over 5 million copies worldwide and earned her three Billboard Latin Music Awards in 1997, including Album of the Year. She further solidified her status with Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998), selling over 7 million copies globally and featuring hit singles like ‘Ojos Así.’ Following her MTV Unplugged recording in 1999, she won the MTV Video Music Award for People’s Choice – Favorite International Artist in 2000 and launched her Tour Anfibio. In 2001, Shakira achieved a major English-language crossover with Laundry Service, selling over 13 million copies worldwide and becoming the best-selling album by a female Latin artist, featuring international hits like ‘Whenever, Wherever’ and ‘Underneath Your Clothes.’ Her Tour of the Mongoose (2002-2003) followed.

Shakira served as a coach on two seasons of The Voice (2013-2014) and voiced a character in Disney’s animated film Zootopia (2016). Her album El Dorado (2017) garnered a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album in 2018, followed by the El Dorado World Tour. In 2020, she co-headlined the Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Jennifer Lopez, reaching 103 million viewers. She served as executive producer and judge for Dancing with Myself in 2022.

She will receive a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran in 2025, concurrent with the commencement of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,’ running through 2026. Complementing her career, Shakira actively champions philanthropic efforts through her Barefoot Foundation, providing education and meals for children in Colombia.
