Andre Dontrel Burt Jr., known professionally as SoFaygo, was born on October 3, 2001, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He developed an early interest in music, recording his first song at the age of nine. As a teenager, while attending Etowah High School, he began to pursue music more seriously. Initially performing under the stage name Trvllinese, he released the EP ‘We Are Aliens’ in 2018. His debut mixtape, ‘War,’ released in 2019, helped him gain a local following. This early work caught the attention of record producer Taz Taylor, founder of Internet Money, who identified his potential. Although SoFaygo declined an initial offer to sign with Internet Money, he had already begun collaborating with rapper Lil Tecca, contributing to his development as an artist.
A significant turning point in SoFaygo’s career occurred with his 2019 single, “Knock Knock.” This track gained viral popularity on TikTok in late 2020, eventually achieving platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This exposure led to his signing with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Records in February 2021, joining artists such as Sheck Wes and Don Toliver. Under this label, he released his debut studio album, ‘Pink Heartz,’ in 2022. He also appeared on Genius’s web series ‘Open Mic’ to perform “Knock Knock” in June 2021, further broadening his audience.
SoFaygo’s collaboration with Trippie Redd on the song “MP5” in 2021 marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. He also contributed to Don Toliver’s album ‘Life of a Don’ on the track “Smoke” in October 2021. In 2023, he released the EP ‘GO+,’ followed by singles “Precision” featuring Don Toliver and “Life So Crazy” in 2024. Later the same year, he released the SoundCloud-exclusive EP ‘Pressure.’ In 2024, SoFaygo supported Lil Tecca on his “HVN ON EARTH” tour alongside other artists. His career has been influenced by artists including Drake, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert, reflecting a diverse range of artistic inspiration. In July 2025, he made two appearances on ‘JackBoys 2,’ marking his first official collaboration with Travis Scott.
