Underoath began their impactful career by signing with Takehold Records in 1999, releasing debut album Act of Depression (2,000+ copies sold), followed by Cries of the Past (2000, 3,000 units). By 2001, the band secured a deal with Solid State Records. With Spencer Chamberlain joining as lead vocalist in 2003, Underoath achieved breakthrough commercial success with the 2004 album, They’re Only Chasing Safety. It sold nearly 100,000 copies in its first week, earning RIAA Gold certification (500,000+ units), and was supported by appearances on the 2003 Warped Tour and 2005 Taste of Chaos tour.
