White Reaper is an American garage punk band that has made significant strides in the music industry since its formation in Louisville, Kentucky. The band was established in 2012 by Tony Esposito and Nick Wilkerson, who began their journey by recording two demos. Their early work culminated in the release of a 7-inch featuring the tracks “The Cut” and “Conspirator” in 2013, showcasing their raw energy and unique sound. With the addition of bassist Sam Wilkerson and keyboardist Ryan Hater, the band solidified its lineup and began to gain traction in the local music scene.
In 2014, White Reaper signed with Polyvinyl Records, marking a pivotal moment in their career. Their debut EP, simply titled “White Reaper,” was released shortly thereafter, followed by their first studio album, “White Reaper Does It Again,” in 2015. The band quickly garnered attention, touring with notable acts such as Twin Peaks and Weezer, and their sophomore album, “The World’s Best American Band,” released in 2017, further established their reputation for high-energy performances and catchy melodies.
Transitioning to Elektra Records in 2019, White Reaper achieved commercial success with their major label debut, “You Deserve Love,” which included the hit single “Might Be Right,” peaking at number six on the US Hot Rock Songs chart. Their dynamic presence at festivals like Riot Fest and appearances on shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live! showcased their growing popularity and solidified their status in the punk rock genre.
Most recently, White Reaper released their fourth studio album, “Asking for a Ride,” in January 2023, continuing to push creative boundaries. The band’s music has been featured in prominent advertising campaigns, including a Taco Bell ad, demonstrating their broad appeal. With a dedicated fanbase and a commitment to evolving their sound, White Reaper remains a vibrant force in the contemporary music landscape.
