Yvette Young, a distinguished American musician and composer, launched her professional career in 2009 with the independent release of videos showcasing her exceptional guitar abilities, following her graduation from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Renowned for her distinctive polyphonic playing style, influenced by her early piano training, Young developed a unique approach that avoids traditional chord shapes and incorporates various tunings, often translating sung musical parts directly to the guitar. Her solo discography began with the ‘Acoustics EP’ in 2014, followed by a split EP with Natalie Evans in 2015, and the ‘Acoustics EP 2’ in 2017. Beyond her musical prowess, Young is also a respected visual artist, whose illustrations and paintings have adorned her album covers and custom-painted guitars, including a notable commission for Willow Smith.
