The incredible creative talent Aaron Sorkin is a playwright, screenwriter, actor, and film director, best known for the Broadway play and the screenplay of A Few Good Men, writing the political TV series The West Wing, and for penning the movies Charlie Wilson’s War, and Steve Jobs. He has won an Oscar and a BAFTA, three Golden Globes, and five Primetime Emmys.
Born in Manhattan, and raised in Scarsdale, New York, Sorkin grew up with a love for theatre and drama, with ambitions to become an actor. He attended Syracuse University and graduated in 1983 with a degree in Musical Theatre. He moved to New York City and while struggling to make it as an actor began writing. He secured a theatrical agent, and went on to pen a number of plays including A Few Good Men, which was then sold to Hollywood.
Sorkin adapted A Few Good Men as a screenplay, and the movie, which starred Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, was released in 1992 and became a box-office success, grossing $243 million worldwide. Since then he has penned such classics as Charlie Wilson’s War, The Social Network (for which he won an Oscar), and Molly’s Game, which also marked his directorial debut. For TV he is best known for Sports Night, The West Wing, and The Newsroom.
