Abbey Lee Kershaw was born on June 12, 1987, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Her father, Kim Kershaw, was a professional football player, and her mother, Kerry, was a psychologist. As a child, Abbey Lee faced health challenges, including meningitis at age four, a tumor on her knee, and several broken bones. She grew up in Kensington, Victoria, and attended St Michael’s Catholic Primary School and the Academy of Mary Immaculate. Throughout her teenage years, she held various jobs, including working at a fun fair, as a grocery clerk, and at McDonald’s.
Abbey Lee’s career in modeling began in 2004 when she won the Australian Girlfriend Model Search. In 2005, she moved to Sydney to pursue modeling professionally, signing with Chic Management. By March 2007, she relocated to New York City and signed with Next Management, quickly establishing herself in the fashion industry. She became a prominent runway model, walking for designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Halston, Rodarte, Gucci, D&G, Fendi, Versace, Alexander McQueen, and Chanel. Her editorial work included multiple covers for Australian Vogue and features in V magazine, where she was dubbed a “supermodel.”
In 2012, Abbey Lee began transitioning from full-time modeling to acting. Her feature film debut was in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic film “Mad Max: Fury Road” in 2015, where she played The Dag. Following this, she appeared in numerous films, including “Ruben Guthrie” (2015), “Gods of Egypt” (2016), “The Neon Demon” (2016), “Office Christmas Party” (2016), “The Dark Tower” (2017), “1%” (2017), “Elizabeth Harvest” (2018), “Old” (2021), and “The Forgiven” (2021). Her television work includes a regular role as Christina Braithwhite in the HBO series “Lovecraft Country” (2020), Delly West in Netflix’s “Florida Man” (2023), and Carol Howe in “Waco: The Aftermath” (2023).
