The breathtakingly beautiful Juliette Binoche is a world-renowned award-winning French actress of the stage and screen. She has been ranked in many magazines Top 100 lists, including Empire’s The 100 Sexiest Stars in Film History, and The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time. She was chosen by People magazine as one of “the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.” Known simply by the French press as “La Binoche”, she is the highest paid French actress in history, and has turned down Hollywood (including Steven Spielberg three times) on countless occasions. She was the advertising face of the Lancôme perfume “Poeme” from 1995 to 2000, and again from 2008. Aside from acting, she is also an avid painter. In 2008/09, she exhibited a series of ink portraits depicting each director she had worked with up until that time, as well as a portrait of the character she played for them. Born in Paris and coming from an artistic background, Binoche started taking acting lessons during adolescence. After performing in several stage productions, she began acting in films, becoming a star in France after playing the lead in André Téchiné’s 1985 drama, Rendezvous. Her sensual performance in her 1988 English-language debut, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, launched her international career. Her films to date include Chocolat, Damage, Dan in Real Life, Godzilla, and Ghost in the Shell. She beat the favourite Lauren Bacall to the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her magnificent performance in 1996’s The English Patient, and is the first actress to win the European ‘Triple Crown’ – Best Actress at Venice (for Three Colours Blue), Berlin (The English Patient ) and Cannes (Certified Copy).
