About

Abbi Jacobson was born in 1984 in Wayne, Pennsylvania. She pursued fine arts and video production at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), graduating in 2006 with a B.F.A. in General Fine Arts. While at MICA, she also studied stand-up comedy at Emerson College. Following her graduation, Jacobson moved to New York City, where she honed her comedic skills with the Atlantic Theater Company and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. It was at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre that she met Ilana Glazer, a collaboration that would lead to significant career milestones. From 2009 to 2011, Jacobson and Glazer created, wrote, and performed in the web series “Broad City,” which gained critical recognition and a dedicated following. This web series was subsequently adapted into a successful television series.

In 2014, “Broad City” premiered on Comedy Central, with Jacobson serving as co-creator, co-star, writer, and executive producer. The series ran for five seasons, concluding in 2019, and achieved high ratings, particularly among younger demographics. It earned critical acclaim for its authentic and humorous portrayal of two young women in New York City. Throughout her career, Jacobson has expanded her work to include voice acting, notably as Princess Bean in Netflix’s animated series “Disenchantment” (2018–2023) and as Katie Mitchell in the Oscar-nominated animated film “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” (2021). Her written works include the New York Times Best Seller, “I Might Regret This: Essays, Drawings, Vulnerabilities, and Other Stuff,” published in 2018 by Grand Central Publishing.

Jacobson continued to build on her experience in television development by co-creating, executive producing, and starring in the Amazon Prime series “A League of Their Own” (2022). In this series, she also took on the role of Carson Shaw. This project received critical recognition for its storytelling and performance. Jacobson’s work across various mediums, including television, film, and publishing, demonstrates her capabilities as a versatile creative professional.
