The prolific Adina Howard is a singer and songwriter from the United States. Her debut album, Do You Wanna Ride?, and her debut single, “Freak like Me,” catapulted her to fame in the mid-1990s. “Nasty Grind”, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” (with Warren G), “Freaks” (with Play-N-Skillz and Krayzie Bone), “(Freak) And U Know It”, and “T-Shirt & Panties” (with Jamie Foxx) are some of her other hits.
Howard has worked consistently since her breakout up to the present day. In 2019, her episode of TV One’s hit “Unsung” series premiered and her film Relaxer (directed by Joel Potrykus) was released in theatres by Oscilloscope Labs. It received a Rotten Tomatoes score of 72 percent positive. After teaming with Mothers Favorite Child for her acoustic performances for her TV One programme, she revealed a new single with them called “Freak” in May. In June, she starred in the documentary A Fatherless America, directed by media personality and filmmaker Tommy Sotomayor.
Howard’s dance single “Mind Reader” with Opolopo was announced at the start of 2020 and released on January 17. After a few weeks, the song reached #1 on the TraxSource charts and #2 on the FREAK31 music chart in the Netherlands. She also appeared in Katrina Walker’s new theatrical stage play “Miss Dee’s Kitchen,” which was scheduled to open on April 3 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Her tune “Mind Reader” won another UB Honors nomination in the Best Dance/Club Single of the Year category in December. Welcome to Fantasy Island, her previously stalled album, was announced for release in the United States in 2022 through Rhino Records.
