Barry Sloane is an award-winning English actor with a transatlantic reputation. In Britain, he established himself in soap operas such as Brookside and Hollyoaks before finding success in America with hit drama shows such as Revenge and Longmire. In 2019, he became the voice of Captain John Price, one of the lead characters in the world-famous Call of Duty video game franchise, voicing the character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a game so successful that it took over $1 billion within two months of its release.
Sloane was born in Liverpool in 1981. Fittingly, his first on-screen role was playing Paul McCartney’s schoolboy friend Ivan Vaughan in a John Lennon TV biopic called In His Life. In 2002, he became part of another Liverpudlian institution, Brookside, playing the character of Sean Smith in 65 episodes. In 2007, he joined Hollyoaks as Niall Rafferty. The role brought him to the public’s attention and he became rated as one of the top soap opera villains and as one of acting’s most promising new talents. After his character was killed off in 2009, Sloane appeared in the likes of Holby City, The Bill, and Casualty before winning a role in an American drama called Revenge.
Revenge was a hit in America, winning various awards, including the Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Drama. Its leading actress was also nominated for a Golden Globe. In the year since, Sloane has focused on work in the States, most notably in The Whispers, Six, L.A.’s Finest, and Bluff City Law.
